In 2008, the trumpet playing founder of G7 discovered Kenyan music legend John Nzenze, playing at club in Khayega. Geoff made it a habit to play with John whenever he was in the Kakamega area. Respect and friendship grew between the two musicians, and eventually John revealed his current circumstances. To Geoff's shock, Nzenze has nothing to show for a lifetime of entertaining Kenya. Further, Geoff learned that this is the case for most of our Kenyan music legends. Partly due to piracy, and partly due to unethical management, Kenyan musicians have little hope of earning a decent living. The founder therefore decided to create a recording label "Shieywe Trust" in June of 2009. The sole goal of Shieywe Trust is to provide opportunity and fair contracts to Kenyan musicians.

Geoff and John Nzenze

Operating out of a recording studio in Kakamega, Shieywe Trust's first CD is a collaboration between John Nzenze and Geoff Ridden, called "A New Twiste". The CD will be available in late November. Shieywe Trust is scheduled to record with Kayamba Africa in late October 2009, and will also be producing a CD for a local rap artist, which should be completed late November 2009.
